Flaremeter sensor installed in underwing inspection panel on a Cessna 210

FAA NORSEE approved!

Q1: Can the Flaremeter be installed in Certified Aircraft?
A1: YES. Flaremeter is approved by FAA under NORSEE (Non-Required Safety-Enhancing Equipment) policy. it can be installed as a minor alteration with a mechanic's signature.

Q2: Is the installation difficult?
A2: Installation is very simple. The sensor is installed on the backside of a wing inspection panel, cable is routed from there to the fuselage, and the CPU is connected to power. Installation time is approximately 2 hours.

Q3: Where should the sensor be mounted?
A3: Recommended mounting location for the sensor is behind an underwing inspection panel. Mounting on the underside of the fuselage is not recommended due to the likelihood of contamination from dirt, oil, exhaust, etc.

Q4: Does Flaremeter work for both high-wing and low-wing aircraft?
A4: Absolutely! A simple post-installation auto-calibration compensates for sensor height above ground, regardless of where the sensor is mounted.

Q5: Can the Flaremeter display brightness be adjusted?
A5: A small adjustment dial on the display provides adjustment from very dim for night flights, to very bright for use in full sunlight. The display can also be turned completely off if desired.

Q6: What is the flashing blue light for?
A6: The blue "heartbeat" light provides assurance that the Flaremeter system is on and working normally as an approach to landing is underway.

Q7: What if I want a display for both left and right seats?
A7: A dual-display option is available.

Q8: Can the height-sensitivity of the display transitions be adjusted?
A8: For most light GA aircraft, the nominal display behavior is recommended. However, for aircraft with very fast approach speeds, an option is available for "quickening" the display via a trim pot on the Central Processing Unit.

Q9: Is the Flaremeter a patented technology?
A9: Flaremeter is protected by multiple pending U.S. patents.

Q10: Where can I buy one?
A10: Flaremeter is sold exclusively by Flaremeter LLC. Order yours here!
